FORTY PERCENT AGAINST RIGHTS:
The truth is out there
2020  11.13 — 11.29

Overview

FORTY PERCENT AGAINST RIGHTS (FPAR) is a Tokyo based street brand. They have built their identity by sending out slogans and messages utilizing T-shirts and other apparel as their primary medium with silkscreen as the print method.

Many of the words that FPAR uses are abstract. Their interpretation is left to those who see and hear them. There are various messages put out, such as those that sometimes suggest the state of modern society or those that touch on human beings’ work and spirit. The title of this exhibition, “The truth is our there,” refers to the truth that everyone has overlooked and is a general term of the phenomenon itself in which FAPR’ s words match up with the real world.

We who now live in the life of COVID-19 recognize the preciousness of everyday life that we enjoyed up until then. In shifting to a simple life as the n ew normal, we are facing significant challenges in this present era. From global social issues overlooked before COVID-19, such as environmental situations that bring on global climate change, each person must face and endure the changes, from the individual lifestyle to the future.

By releasing messages through various media that touch on modern society’s contradictions and the essence of human beings, how will we reconsider the present era and how will we commit to the future we have not seen yet. It is an exhibition that makes you think about such themes.
